About The Artist
The intersection of mindfulness, meditation (in many forms) and art has been a powerful space in my experience, which inspired me to begin sharing drawing meditation classed as an outlet for non-artists and artists alike.
In a time when many of us find the outside world to be dysregulating, I feel called to share the tools I have acquired along my path.
As I have built my drawing meditation practice, I've also built an art portfolio. I'll share some pieces in the Galleries (soon), where you'll see that I love experimenting with different mediums.
My Mission
I am intent on bringing the benefits of mindfulness and meditation to more people, particularly those who feel like they cannot meditate in the way meditation is typically perceived. I use several modalities and an expansive perspective on meditation as an aspect of an evolutionary life. Not everyone has the inclination to meditate like a monk, and though you might eventually find yourself there, you can get many of the benefits from more casual or interactive practices.
I am dedicated to sharing tools that help individuals create spaces of peace along their journey. Be it through breathing techniques, movement, art, or infusing mindfulness into the day to day, there are many ways to infuse life with a deeper sense of balance, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to share that with others.
Mindfulness
noun
the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.
a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
Studies suggest that a significant portion, potentially around 90-95%, of our daily thoughts are repetitive, meaning we tend to revisit the same thoughts and mental patterns day after day. Much of these thoughts operate in the background of our mind, so we may feel a baseline level of stress that we aren’t even able to pinpoint.
Mindfulness is a practice that allows us to become more aware of our thoughts, and in turn, be more empowered to actively engage our brain in a more positive and productive way.
Meditation
Not everyone has the inclination to meditate like a monk, and though you might eventually find yourself there, you can get many of the benefits from more casual or interactive practices. These days I am focused heavily on drawing meditations, as this modality is easy to begin with and available to everyone. You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy and benefit from art meditation, and it isn’t about the results on paper. I hope you will join me for a drawing meditation soon!
